Chocobo Racing Challenges

Players can participate in chocobo racing via the Manderville Gold Saucer using specially trained race chocobos (chocobo companions are not eligible). From improving their abilities through rigorous training to breeding retired chocobos for their traits, you can raise the champion chocobo you’ve always wanted.

There are 2 possible time limits for the remeim race. 32 seconds and 38 which are decided in advance. These are the times the champion chocobo will finish the race in. If its the 32, you have no hope of finishing the race with more than 4 chests. If its 38, you can do all five, but its still tight. These times alternate.

Purchase an Assault Sword (x116 Coins), Scale Armor (x290 Coins), a Windbreaker Bow (x250 Coins), and a Magic Red Candle (x80 Coins). Also if you've got the Coins to spare purchase the 3 new recipes (towards a later achievement) and some Long Arrows to use for your new bow.As long as you were able to equip all these items (the armor is Level 9) then sell the old versions. BE CAREFUL NOT TO SELL THE QUEST TRIDENT if you grabbed it earlierAlso you'll want to buy a handful of Long Arrows for your new bow.Assault Swordx116 CoinsScale Armorx290 CoinsWindbreaker Bowx250 CoinsMagic Red Candlex80 CoinsRecipe: Potion of Regenerationx135 CoinsRecipe: Potion of Ghost Shapex150 CoinsRecipe: Potion of Invisiblitityx200 CoinsBe sure to exit out of the opposite door you entered into the shop to exit to a different section of (7,6) to light all the torches. Otherwise hang onto them until you're able to equip the new ones. Unepic the great fire.

If it finishes in 32, the next time will be 38. Just practice and when the 38 second time is chosen, try to beat it.Also ignore japanese videos. The japanese ps2 version had longer times than the western version did. In addtion to the opponent racing time as people say, the real trick is your own speed. There's very, very little margin for error.

You have to stick to the centre of the track and not hit the sides at an angle, which shows you down. One of the guides that I read says you have to be perfect within less than 2 seconds, I believe it. Suggestion- watch a video from PS3/PS4 remaster and make note of the times when the player opens each chest (you'll notice each video will be virtually exactly the same, it's that tight). That's your goal. Aiso don't worry about the posts- trying to avoid them will slow you down. The prize probably isn't worth it. While I could do 5 chests with no posts on PS2, I'd say it's impossible in the remaster (I'm sure someone will prove me wrong on this.

To that person- I salute you). FWIW, I found Chocobo Rider a hell of a lot harder to achieve- and you did that!
